Intersection Upgrade with Electronic Traffic Signals
Parkhurst Shopping Town & Intersection, Rockhampton QLD
JRT was engaged to undertake works on behalf of AHC limited to upgrade an Intersection on the Bruce Highway in North Rockhampton. The intersection of Boundary Road and Bruce Highway (Yaamba Road) required an upgrade including widening, drainage upgrade and the installation of an Electronic Traffic Signal to allow for an increase in traffic flow due to the Parkhurst Shopping Town Centre.
As this project was situated on the busiest Highway in Australia, the traffic management component of this project was highly complex. This required a multi-staged plan of which included multiple alignment changes to account for the different portions of work. The AADT on site was >10,000 vehicles/day on average with peaks of >20,000 vehicles/day. JRT Civil was proud to report to its client that at the time of Practical Completion of works, there had not been any Lost Time Injuries or any on site injuries to workers or members of the public despite heavy traffic and complex scope of works.
